Hebbal Metro Phase 2: 2026 Latest Update
As of January 2026, the Hebbal Metro station has emerged as the most important junction in the Namma Metro Blue Line expansion. This phase falls under the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Airport Metro project. The project is set to change travel across North Bangalore. Hebbal is no longer limited to being a congested flyover zone. It is now developing into a large multi-modal transport hub.
Current Construction Status in 2026
The Hebbal Metro station construction is in its advanced stage, and by early 2026, most viaduct work along the Hebbal flyover stretch will have been completed. The focus has now shifted to interior works and system installations.
Track Laying:
The Metro tracks between KR Puram and Hebbal are almost completely laid.
Station Finishing:
The Hebbal station structure is clearly visible, which shows that the roof installation and platform tiling are currently in progress.
Testing Phase:
Trial runs on selected Blue Line sections are expected to begin shortly.
Integration Work:
Work is ongoing to connect the Metro station with the nearby Hebbal Railway Station for smooth passenger transfers.
Hebbal as a Multi-Modal Hub
The 2026 update positions Hebbal as a key transport interchange, and the design allows commuters to switch between transport modes within the same complex.
Metro and Rail:
A dedicated skywalk will link the Metro platforms directly to the Hebbal suburban railway station.
BMTC Integration:
Dedicated BMTC bus bays are being developed below the Metro station for easy city bus access.
Phase 3 Connection:
Future plans include a connection to the Kempapura–JP Nagar line under Phase 3, making Hebbal a major interchange station.
Impact on Traffic and Travel Time
The Hebbal flyover is known for severe traffic congestion. Phase 2 completion is expected to bring major relief to daily commuters.
Airport Connectivity:
Travel time from Hebbal to Kempegowda International Airport will reduce to under 25 minutes.
ORR Access:
IT professionals working in Sarjapur and Marathahalli can bypass road traffic completely using the Metro.
Traffic Reduction:
Estimates indicate a reduction of nearly 30% in private vehicle traffic on the Hebbal flyover.
Why This Matters for Real Estate
The progress of the Hebbal Metro in 2026 has driven strong demand in the real estate market. Both residential and commercial segments in North Bangalore are expanding rapidly.
Property Value:
Land prices near the Hebbal Metro station have risen sharply over the past two years.
Rental Demand:
Apartments in the area are in high demand among professionals seeking quick access to the Airport and city centre.
Commercial Growth:
Several new office developments are coming up along the Metro corridor due to improved connectivity.
